IT Engineer, Associate

1 This person will be a member of 24x7x365 IT operations call center enterprise monitoring and triage support for a wide variety of internal and customer facing IT systems, services, and applications. Includes coordination of notifications, escalations, and communications to IT service owners and management for incidents and outages. Secondary support role providing basic end-user support and completion of day-to-day operational tasks to maintain electronic data backup and recovery systems for both servers, desktops, and laptops. Our IT engineers can expect to work with cutting edge technology in a large, fast-paced, and dynamic environment. Use of a wide variety of point monitoring tools and procedures to identify, triage, and escalate IT service degradation or outages.
Perform tape handling activities including coordinating tape rotation activities at domestic and international remote sites.
Configuration of backup policies on enterprise backup systems.
Monitoring status of backups on a daily basis and troubleshooting client failures. Interfacing with other IT admins or end-users as necessary to resolve.
Perform complex data restores using a myriad of data protection technologies such as tape backups, snapshots, replication systems, etc.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve tape hardware problems relating to enterprise backups and coordinate replacement of defective components when necessary.
Build, deploy, and maintain enterprise backup systems. This involves installation of the backup applications, hardware, and software, and on-going maintenance activities such as configuration management, patching, new feature testing, troubleshooting problems. Exhibit skills with using and administrating of operating systems (Windows, Solaris, Linux), network concepts & devices, and peripheral hardware.
Knowledge of common concepts and protocols like TELNET, SMTP, SSH, FTP, DNS, RAID.
Familiar with MS Office 2007/2010 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Experience with these tools and technologies preferred: Symantec Netbackup Enterprise Server, Puredisk, HP/Autonomy Connected Backup, Data Domain, Netapp, Qlogic fibre channel switches, SAN fabric/topology, Oracle (StorageTek) tape libraries (SL8500/SL500), ACSLS, Spectra Logic tape libraries, LTO tape, Perl or shell scripting, MS Exchange architecture, VMware Vcenter backups, Oracle RMAN, SQL.
Preferred: Bachelor's, Information Technology or equivalent experience IT Operations, Netbackup, Data Domain, Netapp, SAN, Spectra Logic, LTO, Backups, Restores
